My Journey into wellness
I was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma by a family who believed in the values of hard work, generosity, and strong faith. Although we were raised in house of medium income, I was raised along with my siblings with the value of sharing. Sharing what we had with those who were less fortunate. We were also brought up with the faith that God is real and that a life lived in and with God was of highest importance. My father was a PHD engineer and my mom went back to school later in life to obtain her Masters degree in Theology.
Dad taught us the value of hard work, logic, patience, dedication, love and generosity. Mom taught us the values of faith, love, trust and forgiveness. Both Mom and Dad taught us the value of prayer as well as of friends and family.
This being said, we each explored our own calling in life as we matured. My life began taking a slant toward wellness as early as adolescence. I began weight training early, long before it was a popular past time or fitness means in my early teens. I began initially with the intention of gaining enough strength to challenge my oldest brother, although I soon discovered that I enjoyed the value of transforming my body through exercise. It felt good to challenge myself as well as it did to see tangible results.
My journey into wellness continued through high school and college and by the beginning of my junior year of college, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in health and wellness. It has now been 35 years since making that decision and I must admit, it was one of my better decisions in this life and I have never regretted it. My passion for health is a strong now as it was then. And although my understanding of health has continued to evolve, the pursuit of studying the various dynamics that influence our health remains today.
It is with this fascination that I enjoy joining others in their pursuit of wellness. As a wellness coach, I enjoy journeying with others as a friend, coach, listener and at times guide. Each of us has the freedom to choose our own path into this life journey and our wellbeing as well as the wellbeing of others is an integral part of that journey.
